Destiny Binds (Timber Wolves) by Tammy Blackwell

Summary of the book by Goodreads.com:
Scout Donovan is a girl who believes in rules, logic, and her lifelong love of Charlie Hagan. Alex Cole believes in destiny, magic, and Scout. When Alex introduces Scout to the world of Shifters, men who change into wolves or coyotes during the full moon and Seers, women who can see your most private thoughts and emotions with a mere touch, the knowledge changes everything and everyone Scout thought she knew.

Destiny Binds is a novel that really grasped my attention.  ‘Scout’ the main character in this book, is extremely interesting. Scouts relationship with her stepbrother Jase is a very close one, so much so that other people call them ‘twins’. However when Alex a handsome boy from Montana comes into Scout’s life their relationship is questioned. Alex is in love with Scout and has been dreaming of her since he was young, you can tell when they first meet that their relationship is going to take off. Tallie, Scout’s best friend is a very likeable character that has every characteristic one would want in a bet friend. She is very close to Scout and their friendship seems to be a sacred one. Most of Scout’s closest friends were hiding a secret from her. When Scout discovers these secrets she doesn’t feel betrayed, and doesn’t hold it against them. This shows you just how much of an understanding person she is. The end of the novel is a sad one, and written so brilliantly that it actually made me tear up, yet it leaves the reader with some hope. Each character is unique and just enough is written about each one making you have a good understanding of them. This novel is written very well, is easy to follow, and you will not want to put it down!

Book Review on 'Whirl' by Emma Raveling

Summary from the Back of the Book:
Seventeen-year-old Kendra Irisavie is an ondine, a water elemental caught in the middle of an ancient war with the Aquidae, immortal dark demons who will stop at nothing to destroy the fragile balance of the Elemental world.
Fierce and independent, Kendra has always played by her own rules. Gifted with the powerful magic of Virtue and trained to be a deadly fighter, she has spent her life breaking hearts and getting into trouble.
When her life explodes one violent night in a northern California city, a dark stranger appears, promising answers to her mysterious past. Alone and with no one to trust, she must now navigate through a dangerous new world, face the temptations of a forbidden romance, and remain true to her duty and destiny.
All while the Aquidae continue to hunt her down, in the hopes of eliminating her forever…
Whirl is one of those books that you can’t put down from the very first page. Kendra’s world is definitely an enticing one that draws the reader in immediately. I love how strong willed the main character, Kendra, is and how much she wants to make a difference. Although Kendra’s life has not been easy and people have high expectations of her, she still has a selfless attitude towards others. Kendra’s romance with Tristan is interesting because it is forbidden, and shows a lot of potential. I look forward to what might happen to them in the next book. When Kendra was growing up she was very insular, and was raised to think friendships made you weak. Even her mother was distant and didn’t show much affection. It was nice to see Kendra gain a group of caring friends, to whom she became very close. As a whole ‘Whirl’ is one of the best books I’ve read, it’s easy to follow and definitely a must read. I cannot wait for the sequel in the Ondine Quartet series ‘Billow’!
